All full-time students at both the Houston and Southeast Texas campus are eligible to compete in the annual AFA Concerto Competition.

The concerto competition is held in two divisions:

• Winds, Brass and Percussion
• Strings, Harp and Piano

A preliminary round will be held during the week of June 18. Finalists will be announced shortly after the preliminary round and will have the opportunity to work with an AFA accompanist for the final round. Department heads from throughout the conservatory serve as judges.

If you are interested in competing in the 2007 concerto competition, please be sure that the piece you choose can be rehearsed and performed by the AFA Conservatory Orchestra in the alotted time. Works that are deemed too difficult for the orchestra will be disqualified.

Winners perform with the AFA Conservatory Orchestra on Saturday, July 14.
