August 2, 2010 • Fall 2010 Thank you to all of our students, families, faculty, staff, concert audiences, and donors for a very successful Summer Music Conservatory and Concert Series!! We hope that you enjoyed your time with AFA and that you will be back again! Speaking of returning to AFA, you can now do that as soon as September. AFA is excited to announce the inaugural season of the AFA Academy and Houston Girls Chorus, starting this September. May 7, 2010 • Intensive Jazz Workshop We regret to announce that the 2010 AFA Intensive Jazz Workshop has been canceled. We hope to resume the AFA Jazz department in 2011. |

April 21, 2010 • Conservatory Update! We are growing ever closer to the Summer Conservatory and expect to have very full enrollment this summer. If you have already been accepted to the Conservatory, check your email inbox for Enrollment Packages and Tuition Bills. If you have not auditioned yet, we look forward to meeting you! If
you have not applied to AFA but are interested in attending this
summer, please make sure your department is still open for applications. |
January 22, 2010 • Concert Calendar Newly posted-the 2010 AFA Summer Concert Series dates and times (venues coming soon!). If you are applying to AFA, please check the dates of performances for your department to rule out any schedule conflicts. |
January 8, 2010 • 2010 site up and running The 2010 version of the AFA web site is now updated, including online applications. Before you apply, check out the Conservatory Information menu for program dates. Then head over to Apply & Audition, where you will find audition dates, locations, and requirements, as well as instructions for how to apply online. The first audition date for AFA is February 27-don't wait! If you are on Facebook, don't forget to join the AFA Facebook Group for frequent updates on school auditions, new faculty, repertory and concert series announcements, as well as notifications when departments are close to being full. |

September 1 , 2009 • Fall Update The 2009 AFA Conservatory was a great success, thanks to the hard work of the AFA student body, faculty, staff, parents and families. Thank you all for making it a fantastic summer! Here's
what we're up to at AFA this Fall- • Planning for the 2010 Conservatory has already begun! Check the Conservatory Dates page and Repertoire pages for information. We will begin accepting applications in January through this web site and auditions will begin in February at locations around the city. Brochures will be mailed in January. • AFA is planning to go paperless for all application, audition and enrollment correspondence for 2010. We would love to hear your thoughts on this-please email us! •
AFA is now celebrating its' Fifteenth
Anniversary!!! This year will bring many more
milestones and we want you to be a part of the AFA family-keep
an eye on the web site for upcoming information about 2010. |

AFA Solo Piano Recital
scheduled for Wednesday, July 15th at 7 pm has CHANGED
VENUES to DOWLING MUSIC RECITAL HALL. |
| July 6, 2009 •Important Concert Schedule Update!!! • The Student Chamber Music Recital scheduled for 2 pm this Saturday, July 11 has been CANCELED. Please join us at Pershing Middle School on Thursday evening, July 9 or Saturday morning at 11 am for chamber music recitals. |
June 25, 2009 • AFA Conservatory nearly halfway over! • On campus this week are the Orchestra/Chamber Music, Piano, Composition, and Intensive Jazz Workshop departments. All are working hard toward their performances this weekend (Orchestra) and next week (Jazz). Next week, the Choral & Vocal Studies department will join the AFA campus. • Please visit the Concerts page to find out about upcoming performances. Concerts this week inlcude the AFA Faculty & Honors String Quartet recital on Friday, 7pm at Ovations and the AFA Conservatory Orchestra at Moores Opera House on Saturday, 4 pm. |
June 9, 2009 • AFA is under way! • The AFA Middle School String Orchestra and Middle School Choral & Vocal Studies departments are both in full swing this week with about 150 students on campus at Pershing Middle School! These groups will both have performances beginning June 18th. • AFA's Orchestra/Chamber Music, Piano, and Composition departments will begin Monday, June 15th. |

| May 12, 2009 • Swine Flu and AFA Some of you may be wondering if the recent swine flu situation will affect AFA this summer. At this time, AFA fully plans to go on with the 2009 Conservatory as planned. Pershing Middle School has not been affected by the virus, and AFA plans to adhere to any CDC recommendations, which currently does not require the closing of schools due to a case of swine flu. Rest assured that the AFA staff is well aware of the virus and will continue to follow any developments. We are looking forward to the summer and having everyone on campus! |
