AFA Solo Competitions

| AFA Concerto Competition All full-time students in the Orchestra/Chamber Music & Piano departments are eligible to compete in the annual AFA Concerto Competition. The preliminary round of the concerto competition is judged in two divisions:
A preliminary round will be held during the the second week of the Conservatory. Finalists from each division will be announced shortly after the preliminary round and will have the opportunity to work with an AFA accompanist for the final round. Faculty Department Heads from throughout the conservatory serve as judges. If
you are interested in competing in the 2011 AFA Concerto Competition,
please be sure that the piece you choose can be rehearsed and performed
by the AFA Conservatory Orchestra in the alotted time. Works that
are deemed too difficult for the orchestra will be disqualified.

to the 2010 Concerto Competition Winner! AFA holds the Young Artist Competition during the last week of the Conservatory, allowing all high school instrumental and voice students to audition with solo and/or unaccompanied repertoire. Judged in two divisions (Instrumental and Vocal), college scholarship prizes and special recital performance opportunities will be awarded at the discretion of the competition judges and competition sponsor.
