How to Apply for the Conservatory
AFA is dedicated to ensuring that all qualified and motivated young musicians have an opportunity to share in the Conservatory experience.

Step 1
Fill out an application form (click above link). The application consists of 1) a GENERAL form required for ALL applicants;
2) a SCHOLARSHIP form for those interested in scholarship assistance; and 3) an audition scheduling portion.
Apply and audition as early as possible, as many departments are very competitive and fill quickly.

Step 2
Please be sure that you have received an email confirming that your application was received. Within 5 days, AFA will confirm your audition date and time via email. We will also send a reminder email as the audition date gets closer. Acceptance decisions are made after the audition, which seeks out not only technically proficient students, but also those with a strong desire to improve themselves regardless of background or experience.

Step 3
An email from AFA with an acceptance decision will arrive either in mid-April (for those auditioning before April 2) or mid-May (for those auditioning after April 2). Acceptance letters will contain a link to download an enrollment package and view a tuition payment form.

Step 4
Review and complete the forms in the enrollment package, and return them to AFA with tuition payment. Tuition scholarship decisions are based primarily on need. The AFA Scholarship Committee reviews scholarship applications only after a student has auditioned and been accepted in to the conservatory.
