Meals and Holidays

On-Campus Meals

Lunch: Through the generosity of HISD, a free lunch is provided for all AFA students who wish to have lunch on campus. Because Middle School students leave campus before lunch and do not eat on campus, they may not leave campus without a parent or guardian. The Pershing Middle School cafeteria also serves breakfast daily and has made this available to AFA students who arrive on campus early.

Students who wish to leave campus for lunch must have parental permission. Permission forms will be mailed with enrollment packages and must be signed by the student and their guardian. There are many restaurants surrounding Pershing Middle School, some within walking distance. It is of utmost importance that students use their time wisely when leaving campus for lunch and return before the start of afternoon rehearsals. Continued tardiness on return from lunch will warrant disciplinary action.

Performance Days: For a nominal charge (usually $3 or $4 dollars), AFA will provide evening meals for students who wish to remain on campus until a given performance that occurs at Pershing Middle School. Students will be asked to pay for their meal during theory and elective classes the day before and day of the performance.

2009 Holiday Schedule

In observance of the Independence Day holiday, AFA will be in session for a half day only on Friday, July 3. Classes will be dismissed at 12:00 noon.

All classes will resume on Monday, July 6.
