Reasons to Support AFA

• AFA is nationally known as a model of community-based music education and is the only program of its kind in the state of Texas

• The AFA Summer Music Conservatory has been a "home" to more than 2800 students and their families in the last fifteen years.

• More than 98 percent of AFA's twelfth-grade students have enrolled in two and four year college programs. Of those pursuing a music major, AFA alumni have gone on to some of the nation's most prestigious programs, including the Eastman School of Music, Juilliard, The Curtis Institute of Music, Rice University, University of Michigan, Indiana University, The University of Chicago, University of Houston and many more.

• The 2010 AFA Summer Concert Series offered fourteen free concerts that entertained thousands of Houston and Southeast Texas area music lovers at such venues as Moores Opera House at University of Houston, Trinity Episcopal Church, Houston Baptist University, Ovations, Memorial High School and Pershing Middle School.

• AFA premieres or presents more American works than any other Houston presenter.
